Paid for by Courtney Monk for School Board 2018 FPPC #1404178

I am thrilled to announce that since there were three candidates for three seats in my race, I will officially be joining the Los Gatos Union School Board in December!

In April, we launched a fierce campaign designed to put us in the best position to win, and our hard work has paid off. We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support that you all have shown this campaign.

I am excited for this new opportunity to work on behalf of all kids in Los Gatos and to ensure that every child has access to an excellent education.

Courtney Monk has focused her career on improving educational outcomes and opportunities for students from all backgrounds. She is currently a data scientist at Chegg, an education technology company that helps students succeed academically and professionally. Prior to joining Chegg, Courtney spent nearly six years working at Teach For America, a non-profit organization whose mission is for all children to have access to an excellent education. Her work played a key role in admitting Teach For America’s most diverse corps members in history in 2014 and 2015.

Courtney received her Doctorate in Economics from the University of Oxford.  While at Oxford, she studied relationships between health, education, and employment outcomes.  Courtney also holds a Master's degree in International Economics from the Université de Paris I - Pantheon Sorbonne, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Princeton University.

Courtney currently serves on the Breakthrough Silicon Valley Board of Directors, iMentor’s Bay Area Advisory Board, and the Chegg For Good Foundation Board. Last year, she was on the Home and School Club Board at Lexington Elementary School. She also volunteers her time as a Project Cornerstone reader at Lexington, serves as a parent representative on LGUSD’s Financial Advisory Committee, and mentors a former San Jose high school student through the iMentor program.

Courtney lives with her husband and two children in downtown Los Gatos where they frequent the local library, parks, restaurants, and hiking trails.
